Interview with Tre after a Concert in Germany ?: Do you already have enough material for a new album? "Testing The Waters". We put it out ourselves on our website, so people can get hold of it there. And then we are going to put out an album. ?: Like Prince did with "Crystal Ball" ? Slimkid Tre: Yeah, exactly. Music is music. Do you wanna hear music or do you wanna wait for the hype ? ?: What`s the new album gonna be like? The new songs we heard tonight were pretty laid back and mellow. SlimkidTre: When we were younger things were really wild. I mean, we are talking about a lot of stuff now. Yeah, it is mellow. We like mellow shit. We`re older, you know. ?: When will the new album come out ? Slimkid Tre: You have got to look on our website. ?: You don`t know yet ? Slimkid Tre: Yes, I know, but it`s underground. ?: So you`re not on Delicious Vinyl anymore? Slimkid Tre: Yes, we are getting off. Delicious Vinyl gets the finger. ?: We heard that the album will be published in June ... Slimkid Tre: See, that`s why we control the music. Nobody knows anything. Until we do something it won`t come out in June unless we want it to come out in June. We don`t care. ?: The criticism of the industry is actually the same thing you said three years ago ... Slimkid Tre: It´s not the industry. It´s the artist, remember. That`s why Prince did his thing. Record companies are good for a certain type of exposure you want, but records sell because of the hard work that you put in as an artist. Just because you have a nice video it doesn`t mean that you sell a lot of records. There`s a lot to the business, but I don`t want to talk about it. I just like having fun and living my life, because that`s what it is really about. That`s what you captured on our first album. Second album was a lot of pain and shit we went through. You hear that. You hear us kind of fighting back. This album we`re getting our last amount of pain out. I wanna be happy man, that`s all I wanna do. I wanna live life and express myself and have a lot of fun. ?: With groups like the Likwit Camp, A.T: U., Saafir and so on L.A. is doing pretty well righjt now. Don`t you think that hiphop from L.A. is gaining more ground apart from the gangster-rap routine nowadays? Slimkid Tre: That´s why looks can be decieving. As large as they look they might not be as large as you think. The might sell 300.000 or 400.000 copies or less. People think that we have millions and millions record sold, but due to our fucked up record company they are smaller than they could have been. You know they wanted to do some money under the table and all that bullshit. When you think about all this business it really kind of fucks your head up. ?: Are you going to do some videos as well? Slimkid Tre: Yes, definitly. Visuals are just another expression of how you want to feel. It´s fun. ?: Are you still in contact with Fat Lip? Slimkid Tre: No, he is doing his thing and we are no longer part of it. He`s a cool guy, though. ?. Thanks for the interview and good luck.
